What are Backlinks

If you are a newbie blogger or a person who is going to start blogging soon, you always hear a term backlinks in the blogosphere. You hear or read someone mentioning how he/she got some great results from this backlink thing. Actually, when a website gets a link from any other site, then it is called a backlink. For example, there are two sites namely “A” and “B.” Now the author of “A” wrote an article with heading “XYZ” and published it on the site. Now some how the author of “B” gets a link to his website from this “XYZ” article on site “A” that is called a backlink for site “B.” In the simple words, a backlink is just an incoming link from some external site to your site.

Always remember, in SEO, if “Content is the King” then “Backlink is the Queen.”

To begin with the process of backlinks, it is important to make a list of potential sites that you could link to your web page.

Backlinks are highly essential for a website to get good rankings on the search engine results. A page that has hoards of quality backlinks would definitely rank higher on the major search engine rankings such as Google etc.

Do follow Backlinks: When some webpage directs to any of your articles or the homepage of your website, it is called ‘link juice’. 

  No-Follow BackLink: No-follow links are the links that do not pose any difference to the rankings and these could be used to link out an unreliable site.
